Robert J. Martin, 83, life long resident of Chicago Heights and Steger, passed away on Aug. 22, 2011 Beloved husband of 63 years to Betty L. (nee Prisco); loving father of Michelle "Mickey" Martin of Phoenix, AZ and Mark Martin (Stacy Boyd) of Crete; grandfather of Aaron (Lesley) Voldness, Rebecca Voldness (Alex Fuller), Adam Ruggeri, Lyndsey (Alex) Bullington, Morgan Martin and Jon Howell; greatgrandfather of Myles, Alexis, Isaac, Evia, Karson and Hatley; sister-in-law Joanne "Chickie" Martin; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents Joseph and Marie Martin, his brother James " Jimmy" Martin. 1947 graduate of Bloom Township High School, Pipefitter Local 501 40 year employee with Gaskill & Walton Construction Company in Crete, partner Martin's Tavern in Steger, Member of American Legion in Steger, Mt. Carmel Club in Chicago. Heights, St. Agnes Church and member of former St. Anne Church Holy Name Society. Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 26, Heartland Memorial Center, 1340 W. Otto Blvd., Chicago Heights from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral Saturday, 9:15 a.m. from funeral home to St. Agnes Church, Mass 10 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, IL Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice.
