Ernest R. Smith

August 18, 1935 - March 1, 2013

 Ernest R. Smith, 77, of St. Charles, passed away March 1, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Martin and Mae (nee Watson) Smith. He was united in marriage to Susan Maze.

Ernie proudly served his country in the Air Force.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Susan; children, Zane (Joan) Smith, Mark Smith and Julie Smith; grandchildren, Evan, Nicholas, Jackie, and Kelsey Smith; and four brothers and two sisters. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 4, at the Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St. in St. Charles. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in St. Charles.
