Fitting, Charles R. "Chuck" (87), a longtime resident of North Aurora passed April 24, 2013. Born January 31, 1926 in Redwood Falls, MN to William F. and Emma (Kacher) Fitting. Married in Aurora, IL on June 15, 1946 to Florence M. Whitt, they raised 5 sons: Roger (Lorel), Donald (Joyce), William (Jana), Louis (Kara), Christopher (Ailene). The proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren: Nicole, Jennifer, Benjamin, Devin (Marie), Brian (Lijun), Derek (Tiffany), Matthew (Patricia), Joshua (Lydia), Alyssa, Clarissa, Dominique, and 7 great-grandchildren, Colin, Lance, Nora, Aubrey, Autumn, Leilani and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; his sister, Phyllis (Carl) Seifrid; in-laws, Roberta (Nick) Smith, Lewis Whitt, Marjorie (Albert) Petersen, J.P. Whitt, Velma (Richard) Short, Donald (Marilyn) Whitt, and Russell Whitt. Surviving sisters-in-law are Doris Whitt, Carol Whitt, Jeanne Whitt, Janice Whitt. Chuck was a Navy veteran of WWII having served on the Battleship USS Iowa BB-61 (Pacific Fleet); a member of the USS Iowa Veteran's Association, American Legion, and V.F.W. He enjoyed coaching Little League and was very active church. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Aurora, IL. Chuck joined the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 319 and in 1958 became a Journeyman Plumber. He worked actively in the Union including serving on the Executive Board and as President of the local for 2 terms. His main work focused on commercial and industrial projects in Aurora and area suburbs. For a number of years, he also provided plumbing inspections for the Village of North Aurora to insure public health safety on new residential and commercial construction. After he retired, he often said: "Retiring was the worst decision I ever made". Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 2nd, 2013 at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL (630-897-1196) as well as Visitation on Wednesday evening, May 1st, from 4 7 pm. Burial will follow funeral at Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Vitas (Chicagoland Northwest) 580 Waters Edge, Suite 100 Lombard, IL 60148, St. Paul's Church 85 S. Constitution Dr. Aurora, IL 60506 or the charity of your choice
